Awareness About the POCSO Act - 2012 (Std. I & Std. II)

An Awareness Talk on Child Rights, Safety and the POCSO Act was conducted by Ms. Vrushali for the students of Std. I and Std. II to create awareness about personal safety and protection.

The children were introduced to the POCSO Act – Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, a special law that protects children below 18 years of age from sexual abuse and harm. They were taught to recognise situations that make them feel scared, worried or uncomfortable and were encouraged to speak up and immediately inform their parents, teachers, Headmistress or another trusted adult. The important safety rule “SAY NO – GO AWAY – TELL SOMEONE” was reinforced through child-friendly videos and songs.

Our Headmistress Sr. Macveena then spoke to the children and further explained the importance of the POCSO Act and personal safety. She encouraged them to be alert, never remain silent about any uncomfortable situation and always seek the help of a trusted adult.
